In May of 1972, a group of Flagstaff citizens met in the basement of the Weatherford Hotel to form a non-profit community theatre committed to producing high quality productions using diverse talents of the Flagstaff community.
Forty-two years later, Theatrikos has grown to a progressive theatrical venue which presents six main stage productions as well as numerous smaller shows to thousands of patrons annually. Theatrikos also offers quality education through workshop opportunities for children, and has recently been focusing on cultivating the work of local up-and-coming playwrights.
A common misconception of Theatrikos Theatre Company is that we survive solely on ticket sales. In fact, over half of the theatre’s budget is generated from grants and the support of donors and underwriters to produce plays, workshops, and maintenance. Because of assistance from groups like Full Circle Trade and Thrift, patrons receive twice the value in entertainment for every dollar spent to attend a performance at Theatrikos.
We very much appreciate this assistance from the Packards and the Full Circle family, and we look forward to putting our share of the funds raised to replace our antiquated and inefficient lighting equipment. This sponsorship is also a great opportunity for us to work more closely with our friends from Flagstaff Light Opera Company, who have a very similar mission of bringing the performing arts to the Flagstaff community. All of us with Theatrikos, including volunteers, staff, board members, and patrons, are excited about this partnership in August, which will hopefully continue in many ways into the future.
